Q: Why won’t my Seek Nano image?
A: The Seek Nano camera will only work with the Seek Thermal “Seek Nano” App from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
Note: The Seek Nano camera will not work with the old “Seek Thermal” App.
Q: Why does my video freeze? What is that clicking sound?
A: Like most thermal cameras, the Seek Nano has an automatic shutter to maximize image clarity and stabilize temperature measurements. When the shutter triggers, it makes an audible clicking sound and the image on the phone will freeze for a few frames. This is to be expected and means your Nano is working properly.
Q: What’s new about Seek Nano compared to the old Seek Compact?
A: The Nano has better performance specifications around sensitivity and thermal accuracy. The Nano utilizes Seek’s SV1 Image Optimization enhancing image clarity.
Q: Which mobile phones are compatible with Nano?
A: Seek has tested and affirms that the most commonly available mobile phones are compatible.
Note: Seek cannot test every phone on the market, as such we cannot declare compatibility with all phones. Seek is committed to maintaining an updated list of compatibility.
Q: Is there an adapter to make my Seek Nano with a Lightning connector work with my new iPhone15 with a USB-C connector?
A: The Nanos with Lightning connectors can be used on iPhone devices with USB-C connectors using Apple’s USB-C to Lightning adapter.
Q: Is Nano fixed focus?
A: Yes, both Nano 200 and Nano 300 are fixed focused. Both models are focused to infinity, ensuring that distant objects will be defined in the thermal image. If the customer needs to view objects in close detail, the macro lens accessory is perfect for this application.
Q: Can Nano be focused either mechanically or digitally?
A: Both Nano 200 and Nano 300 are fixed focused. Both models are focused to infinity, ensuring that distant objects will be defined in the thermal image.
Q: Does Nano have a zoom feature?
A: There is no optical zoom, instead, there is a pinch-to-zoom digital zoom feature in the Nano App.
Q: What is Nano’s Thermal Accuracy?
A: Nano’s thermal accuracy specification is the greater of ±5C or ±5% of the object’s temperature in most common real-world environments.
Q: Is the USB-C Nano cross-compatible with both iPhone and Android devices?
A: There are specific models designed for both iPhone and Android devices.
Q: How far away can Nano detect a heat source?
A: Using the Johnson Criteria, the Nano 200 and 300 have a detection range of up to 1100 feet (333 meters).
Q: “Will it work with a USB-C extension cable?”
A: Seek adapted the connector design to pass through protective phone cases to avoid the need for extension or adapter cables. As such, some customers have reported success using USB-C extension cables and battery pack systems. Seek has only tested and verified Apple’s USB-C to Lightning adapter.
Q: Does Nano integrate with Seek’s SDK (software developer kit) and/or Seek’s Compact App?
A: No, Nano is only supported by the Nano App. Nano will not work with Seek’s SDK, nor Seek’s former Seek Thermal Compact App.
Q: Does the Nano App require a subscription?
A: No, there is no subscription required. The Nano app is available for free via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for Android devices. However, a Seek Nano camera device is required to produce thermal imagery with the Nano App.
Q: I’ve downloaded the Nano App, but my phone’s camera will not render a thermal image. Why is that?
A: To see thermal imagery with the Nano App, the Seek Nano thermal imaging camera must be connected to your phone.
Q: Is the Nano App available in every country?
A: As Nano is export controlled, the App is not available in all countries. If you find that you cannot access the Nano App from your country, please contact Seek Customer service to request access.

Q: What is Nano’s effective temperature range?
A: The effective temperature range of the Nano is from -20°C to 330°C (-20°F to 626°F).
Q: Is that 320x240 on the Nano 300 model the actual sensor resolution or some computationally derived resolution?
A: The 320x240 resolution on the Nano 300 model is the true sensor resolution.
Q: What’s the Nano’s resolution?
A: The Nano 200 model has a resolution of 200x150, and the Nano 300 model has a sensor resolution of 320x240.
Q: Where can I find the Nano serial number?
A: The serial number is laser engraved around the “neck” of the connector. It’s very small, you may need to use your phone’s camera and zoom to see it.
Q: When using my Nano, my phone and camera get warm. Is that normal?
A: This is normal and does not present any damage to the product or your phone. It does not present a fire hazard. Seek Nano has passed all Apple and Android test requirements.
